Catrin Media is a San Francisco-based creative agency specializing in brand films and advertising, with strong ties to the film community in Mexico City and a roster of clients across the US and beyond.

Our name came first; a Mexican cultural icon born in the revolution, the ‘Catrin’ is a well-dressed skeleton with a simple but powerful message: beneath any costume, we all share the same bones. For our founder Diego, a filmmaker from Mexico with deep roots in narrative storytelling, that image captured something he'd been circling for years. Not just a name, but a philosophy. A way of working.

Catrin was originally conceived as a narrative film production company. That origin matters because the instinct that drives great narrative filmmaking is the same one that drives great advertising. The search for the human connection. The details that make a character real. The emotional truth underneath the surface of things. We carried that sensibility into the commercial world and found that most brands need exactly that kind of attention.

Our process reflects it. We don't start with a brief and a mood board. We start with questions. Who are you, really? What do your people believe? What would be lost if you disappeared tomorrow? The answers to those questions, the “bones”, become the foundation of everything we make.
